Over the past few weeks, I’ve been talking a lot on social media about a slightly crazy and mysterious project… Now I can finally tell you more.

After four years of developing Atelier Gaby as a side activity — between craft markets, long production evenings and very busy weekends — I had a new idea: to answer a call for projects, present my work to a jury, and maybe take the leap into an adventure that was completely new to me.

And then the good news arrived: I was selected by hub.brussels to join their business incubator L’Auberge Espagnole in Jette. What does that mean in practice? I’ll be opening a pop-up store for 4 months to test, learn, adjust… and see if Atelier Gaby can grow even further.

What makes this story even crazier is the location. I did my secondary school studies in Jette, about 700 metres from my future shop. Sitting on those school benches, I never imagined that 10 years later I would be opening a store there. Life really does come full circle - sometimes without us realising it.

For years, Atelier Gaby lived on a table: a market table, set up early in the morning, taken down in the evening, moved from place to place. Today, I have the opportunity to move from that table to a real shop space, with shelves, a display window, and above all… room to tell a story.

Honestly, it’s a big leap. I work a lot - those shelves don’t fill themselves! But it’s also an incredible opportunity to present my entire range, without having to choose “just a few pieces” like at a market.

This shop won’t just be a boutique. You’ll also be able to take part in workshops, create with your own hands, and discover what goes on behind the scenes of craftsmanship.

And as from the very beginning, part of the sales will be donated to Alzheimer’s research, in connection with Gabrielle, my grandmother, who inspired the name Atelier Gaby. This commitment is an integral part of the project, and it will remain so - shop or no shop.

Even though it’s a big jump, I’m not doing it alone. This pop-up is part of a real support programme with hub.brussels, including coaching in marketing, finance and sustainability.

I’ve also already had a very warm first contact with the local Jette community thanks to a pop-up at RE:WORK, the café co-working space in Jette, a place where I’ll probably spend quite a few mornings before opening the shop.

I can’t wait to start this adventure and share it with you.Feel free to follow me on Instagram and TikTok @ateliergaby.be, where I share all the behind-the-scenes moments.
