Today, I'm sharing a very personal part of Gaby's and my story. You already know about the one who used to build me little paper boats to race in a basin filled with water, right in the middle of the living room… but there's also the one who wrote on the back of my childhood photos. A name, then increasingly detailed sentences, so as not to forget anything. Until the one who unintentionally broke my heart one day by asking me, “And you? Who are you, miss?” with such a wonderful smile that it was impossible for me to be angry with her. I answered, “Valentine,” and that was enough for her, and for me too.

Gaby suffered from Alzheimer's disease. An incurable and irreversible brain disease in which cells in certain parts of the brain stop functioning and die. Despite many years of research, there is still no treatment.
This is the most common form of dementia. Approximately 70% of people with dementia have Alzheimer's. The disease begins insidiously with memory problems. As the disease progresses, the person loses more and more of their abilities and eventually becomes completely dependent on others and their loved ones. September 21st is World Alzheimer's Day.
That's why, for every order placed from today onwards, I pledge to donate €1 to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation ( FRA ) Belgium, regardless of the amount of your purchase. Every donation to the foundation will help fund the promising research of young scientists to better understand and combat this disease… so that one day – I hope – no one will have to answer that awful question, “And you? Who are you?”
Big kisses up there, sweetie ♡
